On Wednesday September 29, the new art project on the façades of Venlo’s city hall is officially set into motion. The opening is a pilot, executed by the Amsterdam based artist Riki Mijling.

The fundamental idea with respect to the content of Mijling’s works of art for the niches is based upon communication between politics and citizens, and the information one can receive worldwide. The latter concerns mainly information that originally non-Dutch citizens receive from their country of origin. The two objects, gilded satellite dishes, do not only symbolize the new media, but are antennae to keep in contact, and thus stand for communication between the public authorities and citizens, and between people.
