Originating from Blerick, the sixth artist of the De Nis art project is Peter Verheijden. With a remarkable simplicity, he has found a way to fill and accentuate the emptiness of both niches in Venlo city hall’s front and back façade. On Thursday March 16 his contribution, named ChromaKey Blue, officially takes off.

“Is that art now?” a passer-by asked Peter Verheijden last week while he was installing his objects. A very understandable question according to the artist, with regard to the relative simplicity of both works; two blue panels completely fill the niches of the façades. “But it is most definitely art, be it conceptual or minimal art. A niche stands for an empty space, and I strived to accentuate that space. That was the whole concept.”
