Watchful passers-by may have already noticed: Venlo’s City Hall on the Market Square, has an LED Illuminated digital clock. This is an art work by Ines den Rooijen and is part of the De Nis art project.

The City Hall already had a sundial and a time piece. The digital clock is positioned between these two, in the niche on the façade, and coincides artfully with the ancient character of the building. The clock consists of four perpendicular blocks of two digits each. The exact hour of the day can be read in the first block; the second block displays the minutes and the third one, the seconds. The continuous passage of time is best illustrated, however, by the fourth block, which shows the passing of time in tenths of seconds.
